Houdini dog has once again managed to only have symptoms at the dog ER. This is his third time I've taken him to this ER and had this happen. If he hadn't gotten better in their care, I might start to doubt them.
What appeared to be a foreign body in his stomach at the vet is now thought to have been gas or some other inflamation. They commented on how calm and easy he was to ultrasound - clearly he is still not feeling 100% - and didn't see anything. Instead of opting for more tests at this point we're going to see if nausea meds and fluids get him squared away. Going to check back with them later this evening.
Certainly doesn't look like Mak will be enjoying any of his birthday cake, but he should be around to see it. Even if we can no longer afford it. :-(

Doggie ER
Well, Mak might have something in his stomach appears to be the determination after hundreds and hundreds of dollars on x-rays. Next up, an ultrasound!
At this point he is not at the vet anymore and is instead at a 24hr surgical vet hospital.

They're going to start him on anti-nausea meds and get I/V fluids going. Depending what the ultrasound shows, they may snake a scope down his throat to fish things out of his stomach, or they might need to open him up, especially if anything has made it past his stomach.
He very lethargic when I left, so hopefully the fluids get him feeling a bit better.

Vet time
Mak and I were up all night. It had looked like he might've been improving yesterday, but later in the evening things went south.
And now he is in for x-rays which could help determine if surgery is needed. Good news would be to hear that they didn't see anything and his guts are just mad at him. Bad news could be anyting from blockages to perforations...Not a lot of fun. Been having a bit too much of that not a lot of fun lately. I think we're ready for our trend to change.

Ill big dog
Mak is ill. Front-end, back-end, lying around being mopey.
Normally when he gets sick it is a mystery - not this time. With house and baby, our crazy Weim misses the spotlight. To try and lure the attention back his way, he has taken to eating things he shouldn't. A trick we thought he was mostly done with. Anyway, smart dog, he sees the baby getting attention so naturally he should eat her things: a bottle - nipple and all - and numerous tupperware that we keep her food in. And now he has lots of attention. I was able to get bits and pieces out the front-end and he has been working on the other. But he is still sick.
Hard to tell if his system is cleaned out but scraped-up and healing or if he has an obstruction. Watching him closely for temperature spikes or any other changes.
Damn dog. Poor dog.

Down for the count
This mama is officially down for the count...and it stinks.
Yesterday M and I were walking home from the park - she had a great time swinging - when I had a bit of a fall. I stepped off the curb and my ankle rolled, sending me and the wee babe to the ground. M didn't fall far because I caught myself on my knee and elbow before hitting the ground making her actual fall a few inches. Also, she was dressed in the plush sweater from her GG which protected her head. Some nice people from the coffee shop nearby came and helped us out. Luckily, M had no injuries and was just startled for a few seconds. Mom on the other hand...not so lucky. I can't so much walk these days. Nothing is broken or sprained or anything permanent. It's just a big fat tweaked ankle. Now, on top of house duties, my poor husband has to play mom too. The man deserves a nap.

Yard work and life back to normal
We are not normal, so strike that.
Post-plumbing days have been good. We had great weekend weather and spent most of Sunday outside weeding, pruning, and attacking a kiwi tree with a sawsall while it was trying to eat the house.
Mabel helped by bringing some color to the sidewalk:

Kiwi tree slain in the driveway, we moved inside where Mabel gave mushrooms a shot:
And liked them! Something that I have been waiting for someone else in this house to like. Kate was dismayed, especially as she was hand-feeding some of the "stinky" pieces to her. Looks like we'll be having full mushroom pizzas soon.

Swim class
We have a little swimmer in the house:

Mabel's first swim lesson was this past Saturday. Waiting for our class to start she was trying to lean her way in and drag me with her. Once in the warm pool, we sang some songs and everyone let their baby get a feel for being "buoyant" once again. It was a lot of fun and Mabel napped the whole way home.
