4D Baby

Today we had a 4D ultrasound done at a place just north of us. It was amazing. If I could go back every weekend to see Conway I would.

Brett is working on getting the video up to his standards so I'll post it as soon as he is done. For now, you'll just have to read about it!

The appointment was at 2:15 and usually Conway doesn't really start moving a ton until 3:30 or 4. True to her routine she wasn't super active during the ultrasound. She was awake though and was moving about a little bit.
First, we confirmed all the parts were still there. She has two legs, arms, hands, feet, a spine, ribs, all the fingers and toes she is supposed to have, etc. She is also still very much a girl. We also confirmed she is in the proper position - head down/feet up. This matches what I have been feeling for the last month - her delicate little lady feet shoving into my right side ribs all day every day. We actually saw her pushing too. I was feeling her shoving from the inside and at the same time on the big screen we were watching her pushing with her feet. Her little toes were flexed back shoving as hard as she could.
The ultrasound tech spent a lot of time on Conway's face. At first, Conway had her hands up near her mouth/nose which blocked our view a little bit. She also had her umbilical cord running over her wrist which sort of made it look like she had a trunk. No need to worry - we poked and prodded at her enough to get her to move and established there is no trunk. She does have my nose though, the poor dear. The Higgenbotham nose gene runs strong through yet another generation. It looks like she has Brett's chin. We also saw that she has a head full of hair - not surprising given the amount of heartburn I've been having. And given what hairy beasts her parents are.

During our 20 week ultrasound Conway had her little legs crossed at the shin. Must be a comfy position for her because her legs were crossed at the same spot this time too. We also saw her sort of patting her knee with her little hand. It was enough to make anyone melt.

Babymoon

Last week we went on our babymoon trip to New Orleans. We had a great time. We ate a ton and walked all over the city. Our goal of the trip was to spend as much time as possible doing things that are hard to do with a child. We walked around aimlessly, sat in the park and read for hours, took naps and sat at bars and people watched. It was grand!

The hotel we stayed in was three old townhouses that have been connected to make one hotel. The place was very old and had some charming features. The most amusing was the very narrow doorways. I was just glad that we planned our trip when we did, otherwise I might not have fit in our room. God bless double doors.

We got schooled

Today we went to our first official parenting-type class. It was a class on cloth diapering. There are SO many kinds of cloth diapering options these days that my head was swimming just trying to figure it all out. Luckily, we live in a town where cloth diapering is fairly common so finding resources to help sort through all the information wasn't too hard.

I am committed to really giving cloth diapers a fair shot for a variety of reasons. Cost, environmental benefits, and health of the baby are the main three. Brett was not as sold on the idea prior to the class, but is down to give the diapers a shot. I think the words "cloth diapering" sound intimidating, but once you sit down and really look at what it takes it's not that bad.

The class helped us figure out what brand we are going to go with. It is not the one that I had in mind prior to class so I'm very glad we went. We would not have been nearly as happy with the style I chose based on internet research alone.

Belly Bump

Here is the 25 week pic. I am growing and Conway is moving a lot. She is what they call an "active baby." At least for now she is still contained.
