Wow have we been busy.
We moved. 8 hours on Saturday and we were out of the townhouse by 6pm. It was sad to leave - a lot of good memories there.
The new house is as you might guess pretty hectic. The nursery is maybe halfway setup, enough for diaper changes and the baby to sleep. Our room is set in that we've only ever really had just a bed. Eventually some additional furniture might be nice. But first we'll have to focus on closets which are chaos distributed. I got dressed in 3 rooms this morning all while toting Mabel around, dogs following as well.
Our to-do list has probably doubled in the past few days beyond what we'd put together over the past month. We keep telling ourselves (really, Kate keeps telling me) that old houses have issues. Lot to do, lot to unpack, but we're moving forward. The dogs helped walk Mabel over to nanny's this morning. At the end of our block is a nice view of the lake which we (I) enjoyed for a minute. Missing in the new house are views of the Cascades and Rainier that the townhouse had. So I'm making due. Should have some Cascade views from the corner if the sun would come back. Wintery-Spring weather in Seattle is not so nice.
Mabel is still fussing on her second top tooth. There are no pictures or video to share, so you'll have to trust us. She is getting more and more motivated to crawl, really lifting herself up and kicking around on the floor. Last night she managed to move backwards in the living room. Once she figures out forward, we'll be in trouble.
The dogs are adjusting to the new house a bit more slowly than the baby; Mak is having a tough time. Trying to spoil him a little and let him know that this is (should be) and improvement. Maybe my dog picked up my skepticism. :-)

Signed
This morning we dropped Mabel off with the nanny and signed our sell and buy papers. And signed lots of papers while looking at lots of numbers. And now we are maybe, possibly done. We get the new house on Friday!

Top tooth and other developments
After many false starts, Mabel has finally got a top tooth. The second top tooth looks as though it might quickly follow...or it might be a long time.
Other developments:
First report card (from the nanny, who misspelled her name):
First sunglasses:
Some new foods: chicken, asparagus, tomato, barley, rice noodles, (sour) peaches, prunes, Brussel sprout, black beans. A fan of most everything.
There has been another trip to the swing, this time in somewhat nicer weather. She is getting close to maybe possibly crawling. She pushes up and almost gets a leg going. Wants to pull/push herself up to sitting but isn't there yet. She has also started on puffs and can - sometimes - grab them and get them in her mouth. Self-sufficient-ish.
And tonight coming out of the tub decided to bring two cups out to her towel and bash them together:

Another cold.
Mabel has a cold. We're trying to keep it at just a cold. She slept well last night with some coughing and congestion. She was unswaddled though which is rare and worked out well, allowing her some sleep on her belly. We'd tried it maybe a month ago (when she wasn't sick) and it was OK at first and then she was up all the time. Maybe she is now ready to no longer be mummified at night...
We're signing papers for the sale of our townhouse and the purchase of the new house Tuesday morning. Closing on our place is a week out, on new house a week from tomorrow. Exciting, terrifying. Efforts at early packing were good, but stalled somewhere early-week with work and other day-to-day distractors. Hoping to rally again tonight and start lugging things down to the garage for an easier move day. Move is set for a week from Saturday so we've got a little time, but getting a bit anxious.

A+ report card
Mabel got an A for the day!!!
I have to be honest and say I was nervous about today. I didn't cry, but there were nerves for sure. She is my baby after all. I was quite relieved when I got an email from the other mom at about 9:30 am saying that M had just gone down for a nap and there was no trouble. That made the rest of the day go much easier for me.
Now on to the baby...
I got to pick her up a little early today so when I got to the house the nanny (Diana) was out on a walk with the two babies. About 15 minutes after I arrived Diana showed up with a happy baby in each arm. Mabel was totally full of smiles. As I held her she actually leaned over and gave both Diana and Eli (the other baby) big kisses. It was super sweet. Diana said both babies were great. They napped well, ate well and played well. A+ for the day!!
I could tell M had a good day. She was very calm - also known as worn out. I am a very relieved mama who is looking forward to another day of fun with the nanny for Miss M!

First nanny day & we are in escrow
This morning Kate took off for work and I dropped Mabel off for her first day with the nanny. Kate had prepared all the goodies so it was easy in that respect. The time change had everyone a little confused, but there was no crying or carrying on. Kate is picking her up this evening and I'm sure she get a full report of how Mabel fared.
In house news, around lunchtime we learned that the lender was done with our loan docs and had been submitted to escrow - which is a relief. Escrow is going to set up a time early next week for us to sign sell and buy docs and then we wait a couple more days and move.

Shots, appraisals, washing machines, meat, and boxes
Yesterday Mabel had a pair of vaccines which she did fine with. She next goes to the doctor in May for her 9 month check-up. She wasn't weighed for this last visit, but she doesn't feel any less solid.
The new house appraised fine so we're now up to "final" approval on our loan paperwork. Not sure what that means, but sounds encouraging.
Today's excitement was a trip to Sears to purchase and arrange delivery of a washing machine for the new house. A must have with cotton diapers to wash. We've had a front-loading washer for the past 7 years, about when they started to move mainstream. We are hoping a change in brand, Consumer Report recommendation, and time for improvement will all get us a washing machine that doesn't suck like the Frigidaire (aka Electrolux) we've argued with for years...
We grabbed a quick lunch where Mabel took her first steps into the carnivore landscape with some carnitas. She was a big fan! No flinching. Much better than yogurt.
With 2 weeks until our house closes, the packing has started. Our first floor is getting cramped with boxes and the dogs are a bit concerned. Our hope is that by starting everything now it might be a little less stressful come move day. A valiant hope.

Budding foodie

3 weeks to closing
Next up, appraisal.
Our inspection and asks were approved by the sellers.
The appraisal has been ordered by our lender. We expect it to appraise fine.
We have movers lined up.
It would seem that final lender approval is our next hurdle.

Inspection done
Inspection went well. We've got a few asks we'll be sending back to the sellers to negotiate on and a to-do list of other projects for me to tackle. All-in-all things looked good.

Home inspections and fax machines
Briefly in baby news - Mabel loves carrots. She and Kate are going to a mom's group tomorrow before heading to the new house for...
Tomorrow afternoon we are having the prospective house inspected and the sewer scoped. In our initial walk through things looked to be pretty solid, but it'll be nice to have more time and some people with us that have more experience to help put it through its paces. It'll be interesting I'm sure. Plus, we get a DVD of the sewers...how cool is that?! Movie night once we're moved in.
Start of the fax adventures. Optional read. Not exciting.
